Honorary Chairs Announced!

Mandy Grewal:
Mandy has served as Pittsfield Township’s Supervisor for 13 years (Pittsfield Township has 3 parks protected with SMLC conservation easements) and was recently appointed by Governor Whitmer to serve on the Board of the Michigan Municipal Services Authority. She also serves as Vice Chair of SEMCOG, and on the boards of Ann Arbor SPARK and Therapeutic Riding Inc. Prior to becoming Supervisor, Mandy served Pittsfield Township as its County Commissioner.

Melissa Prowse:
Melissa serves as the Planning and Resource Development Supervisor at Oakland County Parks and Recreation. In this role, she oversees the 5-Year Parks and Recreation Master Plan, as well as the Strategic Action Plan, and helps guide the following: land acquisition, public engagement, grant applications and management, and donation and sponsorship management. Melissa also serves as the ADA Coordinator for the park system and ensures all county parks and facilities are accessible to everyone. Melissa helped open SMLC’s Lost Lake Nature Preserve at the 2015 Public Dedication event.

Sue Shink:
Sue is the Chair of the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners and a Commissioner for District 2.  She has been helping preserve Michigan lands since 1998 and got her start volunteering for SMLC!  Her efforts to support land preservation include helping Donald Staebler preserve his farm (now known as Staebler Farm County Park), serving on the Agricultural Lands Preservation Advisory Committee and donating a conservation easement on her family’s farm. Sue has also championed the renewal and restoration of Washtenaw County’s Natural Areas Preservation Program Millage and the Washtenaw County Conservation District Millage. Her other notable accomplishments include leading climate action projects at the county.
