The SMLC received this property near Selfridge Air Base, northeast of Mount Clemens, as a land donation. The property is located immediately north of the Air Base and adjoins a Township park on its north boundary. The land lies within 1/2 mile of Lake St. Clair and consists primarily of forested wetlands with some open field and brush habitats.

The land, owned by Avis L.L.C., a development firm based out of Ann Arbor, had long been planned to be developed, but the amount of wetlands and proximity to an airport runway precluded intensive development. Thanks to the generosity of the people of Avis L.L.C., this land will always serve as home to great variety of resident and migratory wildlife, and the residents of Chesterfield Township will also benefit from the preservation of this green oasis near the shores of Lake St. Clair.
