Bats and Fireflies at the Conservancy Farm
07/10/09
Friday, July 10 at 8:30pm - 10:00pm
8383 Vreeland Road, Ypsilanti, MI 48198 (1/4 mile east of Prospect Road)
Come out and help with the annual count of bats living at the Conservancy Farm. Over each of the past three years, we have counted around 100 Big Brown Bats flying out of the barn where they sleep during the day and into LeFurge Woods Nature Preserve for their nightly insect hunt. The more eyes watching, the more accurate our count will be. As the sky darkens, we will see fireflies by the hundreds light up the surrounding fields. Everyone is welcome - bring friends and family. We'll have some chairs available but you can bring your own lawn chairs. A blanket and pillows are a good way to watch, too. Be prepared for mosquitoes and cooler nighttime temperatures. Kids are especially welcome but, please, no pets. For further information, please contact Scott Tyrrell (styrrell@SMLCland.org / 734-484-6565). All welcome to join SMLC friends for a mid-summer campfire at the LeFurge Woods Nature Preserve just north of Ypsilanti. Fireflies are scheduled to provide a spectacular show!
